Another critical news announcement by Fox

I wish it wasn't true that, according to Logan Murphy at C&L, "[t]his campaign season is going to make 2004 look like Romper Room and you can be sure this won’t be the last we’ll see of this kind of garbage."

And Fox "News" will be ground zero for this Romper Room approach to presidential campaign news.

In this video from Media Matters, Fox "News" pundit E.D. Hill "analyzes" a film clip of Barack and Michelle Obama communicating semi-privately with each other, describing what she actually calls "a terrorist fist jab."

Again ... "A terrorist fist jab."

You simply cannot make this stuff up.

Hill goes on to comment that this is "a signal that young people get." This last association is likely a pathetic attempt by her to further Fox's incessant claims that Sen. Obama's success is due primarily to the support he has from young voters, the implication being that mature, politically knowledgable voters do not support this candidate. (Full disclosure: I am a 55-year-old white female who totally supports the Obama campaign.)

Those of us in the reality-based world need to be aware that this outlandish "news analysis" is what Fox viewers are being spoon-fed by the "fair and balanced" crowd. This style of media influence of Americans' political views is so ubiquitous, and has been for so long now, that the kool-ade drinkers simply aren't aware this is, indeed, kool-ade. Those of us who have intentionally avoided "news" shows like this one on Fox will immediately recognize the blatant attempt by Hill to link the Obama's with terrorism, through their "analysis" of this video.

E.D.Hill was stateing what a whole lot of people viewed the fist bump.It was not her views. My goodness I guess only the right wing should only be slammed. This was nothing compared to the drive by media, who twists things around on a daily basis.

Good grief. What "whole lot of people?!"

That is outlandish. She most certainly was NOT reflecting the views of anyone else. I can assure you that "a whole lot of people," REASONABLE people who aren't caffeinated-up on the garbage that the corporate-controlled media is spewing around about Sen. Obama, his wife, and their friends, saw this husband/wife moment for what it was: An enthusiastic, warm act of mutual encouragement.

Please. Get a grip.

When my mother was dying of cancer, the last time my father, her husband of 45 years, visited her in the hospital, on his way out the door of her room, knowing that this would be the last time they would be able to communicate consciously with each other, he pivoted in true military fashion, stood at attention, and saluted her. Then he pivoted around and walked out the door, never seeing her alive again. He was a West Pointer, and this was his way of communicating with his beloved life mate. I'm sure there are "a whole lot of people" who would draw some outlandish conclusions about that gesture, people who are just as ridiculous in their conclusions as the ones who might associate the Obama's moment together with terrorists. It is NOT the job of the media to play into that c**p. It is their job to report the news, and to provide intelligent analysis. Fortunately, Fox "News" is on its way out the door, viewership is dwindling, and "a whole lot of people" are getting a whole lot smarter.

Thank-you.
